Today we are talking about our detailed preparation at Retro.

Although we only look to purchase and sell the very best examples in the U.K, anyone who has owned a classic car knows there is always something to be done, even on the very best examples.

That is why we here at Retro try our absolute best to prepare the cars to the highest standards so they can be both used and enjoyed.

I have chosen the 1968 Ford Mustang GT/CS California Special 289 V8 which we sold earlier in the year as the perfect example. This particular car in our opinion was one of the very best CS’s for sale in the world. However, having been sat in a private collection for a number of years it needed some recommissioning and getting back on the roads again.

This included a Lubrication & Service, Tune & Check Over, Gearbox Overall, MOT, New Battery, New Power Steering Pump and the underside re-detailed. We later also put around 300 miles on the car to make sure everything was operating correctly.

This is a perfect example of how even a rotisserie restored and triple concours winning Mustang needed some fine tuning.

After the preparation we sold this example to Taskin, who managed to get this beautiful example all the way to Istanbul.

In summary, another reason why we are so picky with our stock and preparation, is that we want to keep these timeless classics on the road being enjoyed and admired for further generations to come.
